The First Time Since 1973, Japan Beat USA in World Music Sales
Tokyo - Japan's surprisingly managed to beat the U.S. last year as the country with the world's largest music sales in the last period of 2012. Japan dominates the sale of achievement in the world of music is the first time since 1973.
The results were collected by a combination of album sales selling both physical and digital album sales last year. This data is published by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), according to the Japan Times.
In 2012, Japan achieved a total sales worth 4.3 billion dollars from sales of CDs and digital music, swapping positions with the U.S. that had dropped to the number two position with total sales valued at 4.1 billion dollars.
Overall, sales of non-digital products like CDs and so managed to reach the total sales of as much as 57%, but things are different and unusual happened in Japan when the total sales of digital products reach 80% of total sales overall.
"Even so, the United States remains the largest market share music globally for the entire category, including sales achievement used music for movies and commercials," said of the IFPI.
